York University employees are reminded that as of May 1, the University launched a new Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) through Sun Life, delivered via Lumino Health Virtual Care.
The EFAP offers confidential, personalized support to faculty, instructors, staff and their eligible dependents, accessible anytime, anywhere in Canada. Whether navigating mental health challenges, legal or financial matters, or personal and professional issues, expert help is available 24/7 by phone, app or website.
How the program works:
- Access services 24/7 via the Lumino Health Virtual Care app, website or by telephone (in English and French).
- Appointments are typically scheduled within 24 hours of your initial request.
- Follow-up occurs after each session to ensure your needs are met.
Support areas include:
- Mental health
- Legal and financial advice
- Family and relationship guidance
- Career and workplace issues
- Short-term coaching for people managers
Additional services also include support for women’s health, substance use, nutritional counselling and health-care navigation.
What about existing Telus Health cases?
For individuals with open EFAP cases through our previous provider (Telus Health), care will continue without interruption. Cases initiated before April 30 will remain active through to their conclusion. Those who contact Telus Health after May 1 will automatically be redirected to the new provider.
Please refer to the YULink page for full details on how to:
- register and create a Lumino account;
- update contact information where necessary; and
- access services through the Lumino platform.
